What does your profile look like?

We are a good match if you have...

  • A MSc or PhD degree in Biotechnology, for example Life Science Technology in Delft, Wageningen or any international equivalent.

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.

  • Experience with Fermentation equipment and data handling.

  • A hands on personality with the willingness to work flexible hours that’s inherent to the nature of the fermentation work.

  • Excellent organizational, communication and planning skills.

It’s a pre if you have experience with...

  • Scaling up and down.

  • Working in multidisciplinary project teams covering molecular biology, analytics and downstream processing.

  • Fungal fermentation.

Who are we looking for?
For our precision fermentation team we are looking for an experienced and talented Fermentation Scientist to take our fermentation process to the next level. You’re someone who likes to interact closely with other disciplines in the group such as your molecular biology and downstream processing fellow brewers.

What are your responsibilities and scope in this role:

  • Develop fermentation processes for heterologous protein production by filamentous fungi.

  • Design and execute experimental programs to improve fermentation process performance and overall yield.

  • Collect, analyse, interpret, and report data collected from shake flask cultures and bioreactors.

  • Scale fermentation processes up/down methodologically.

  • Maintain fermentation work planning and connect with strain development and downstream processing teams to meet overall project milestones.

  • Generate detailed SOPs for fermentation operations, process analysis and trouble shootings.

  • Mentor junior team members on operation of bioreactors and fermentation process development.
