CLIMATE CHANGE AND HUNGER
BY BREWING FOOD PROTEINS
The Protein Brewery contributes to a more sustainable world by developing novel ways of producing food proteins, deploying fermentation technologies using locally produced, non allergic and water efficient crops. This way animal based food production can be reduced drastically. It contributes to reducing global warming, animal suffering, nitrogen emissions while also providing a solution to feeding a growing population towards 10 billion people in 2050.
Less LAND AND LESS WATER
When it comes down to sustainability, Fermotein™ is unparalleled. Using only 1% of land and only 5% water compared to beef it has the lowest ecological footprint of all proteins — animal-based and animal-free
U.N. SUSTAINABILITY GOALS
In 2015 the UN introduced 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs), they form a global compass for various challenges like poverty, health and climate change. We endorse all the SDGs and with our technological platform we contribute to 7 SDGs directly.
THE OVERALL IMPACT
The Protein Brewery attaches great value in controlling and mitigating its environmental impact. In order to identify this, we have had a comparative Life Cycle Assessment carried out which resulted in 1 kg CO2 per kg Fermotein™ (wet) and 3 kg CO2 per kg Fermotein™ (dry).
OUR 5 CORE VALUES
By producing proteins close to their source, to the production sites and consumers, the need for transportation is limited, reducing CO2 emissions. Moreover, it contributes to the self-sufficiency of countries for their need of proteins, mitigating scarcity and soaring prices.
Use non-allergenic raw material
To allow companies who process our proteins to put allergen-free products on the market.
High nutritional value and as complete as possible in their composition
To actively contribute to the physical health of people we always develop products as complete as possible in its composition, maintaining its high nutritional value.
No excessive salary gaps
To impart a sense of value, leading to a culture of total ownership, undivided responsibility and relentless dedication to the highest level of quality control we will never allow excessive salary gaps between people who work in or for our company.
To make animal-free proteins affordable and available to everyone, we will always favour companies who wish to make their products available to a broad audience to lower the thresholds for a successful protein transition.
