The Protein Brewery (TPB) is a young, highly innovative company focused on creative technologies to develop and produce sustainable food ingredients using classical brewing technology. Our team in Breda currently consists of 16 people and is growing fast. How does your profile look like?

  • Broad experience (minimal of 10 years) and track-record in (industrial) Food R&D/novel product development in markets where our novel food products are applied. These fields include for example meat hybrids, meat successors/analogues, bakery, bread, chocolates, pasta, protein bars, protein shakes

  • Preferentially university degree in Food Science or closely related field

  • Passionate about innovation, food, health, and sustainability

  • Ability to establish and strengthen partnerships

  • Entrepreneurial and international spirit with a willingness to work out of various locations. This can vary from Breda/The Netherlands to at customers and project partners locations across the world)

  • Strong project management skills

Who are we looking for?  

We are looking for a passionate Food Application Expert with both scientific, industrial and customer experience in developing nutritious novel food products. You have a track record in successfully bringing new products to the market and a strong network in the novel food consumer products industry. You will work closely with the other colleagues in the brewing research group, various external partners, customers, and the marketing & sales group within TPB.  


What are you going to do?

  • Develop food formulations and optimize the recipes working towards consumer products based on TPB’s food ingredients, with a focus on a good texture, bite, smell, and taste

  • Design and execute food application R&D from laboratory scale to successful demonstration at pilot scale and to commercial production

  • Identify academic and/or industrial partners that will expedite the company’s applicationdriven research towards disruptive world-class performance

  • Introduce and apply physicochemical techniques used in food science for our research and application development

  • Conduct a wide range of analytical tests, set up quality control and sensory evaluation (panels) and integrate this in our ISO22000:2018 system

  • Demonstrate our products on conferences, trade shows and exhibitions

  • Assist the business development and sales team in optimizing the value proposition for prospected customers

  • Keep up to date with the newest trends in food processing technologies
